The Future of Tech

    I have learned so much from this assignment and it has been very fun to say the least. Before this I briefly remember my teachers making PowerPoints in elementary school, but I had no idea how they did it. The first thing I learned was how to make a good title page. I knew about making title pages before, but I learned how to make them more detailed and how to add to them. I also learned how to make animations, transitions, and even add sound. However, the most surprising skill I acquired was learning how to link slides to buttons. As ridiculous as this sounds, creating buttons was my favorite part of this assignment. Overall it was very engaging and I learned a lot.

    When it comes to data and surveys, as a seventh grade English teacher there would be a few ways I think I will use them. One way I can think of is if I am introducing a somewhat controversial lesson. I will use surveys like Qualtrics to get a vote of opinion on how students feel. If there are many students who disagree, I will probably cancel it. I can also use it to take votes on books they want to read, I can use it to gather how satisfied parents are with my teaching methods, and it can be used for students to rate my class or tell me things they would do differently. There are many uses for tools like Qualtrics.

    I believe in one of my courses we briefly went over Nearpod and that is a technology I would like to learn more about. How I came to this decision was by using SMART. Specifically, I want to learn how to create, customize, and deliver interactive lessons using Nearpod. To measure this, I would need to create at least three interactive lessons and use at least one in the classroom or a practice setting. I will achieve my goals by using online tutorials, Nearpod training videos, and more. Relevance would also be a priority because I would need to make sure this online tool helps me develop professionally and fosters growth among students. Time is something I would also have to consider, since it all should be done in a timely manner, for example three weeks. These are the ways I would carry out my goals.

            Believe it or not, this is actually my second class using blogging. In a previous class, we used WordPress. It was a very interesting process, but honestly, I enjoy Blogger much more. Blogger has a lot more features, it is easier to use, and you do not have to pay for core features like you did in WordPress. As for what I have learned so far, I am most amused by learning how Blogger puts all of the blogs together. WordPress keeps everything separate, so learning how to put all of the blogs together on Blogger was a game-changer for me. Something else I learned, which is kind of small, is the use of sharing URLs on Blogger.           There are really a lot of things I would like to learn in this class. For starters, there is so much I do not know about technology, but I know that in modern society, technology is something that is needed for us, especially in education. I know this is a controversial take to many, but I also think it is necessary to keep up with the progression of society. Most people think that technology will hinder children, but in this day and age, technology is simply a necessity.      For as long as I can remember, technology has been used in my education.       My time at the Sandbox last week was absolutely amazing. For starters, I had no idea that such a place even existed in the first place. I knew about the other technology building, but it is always crowded, booked, and so forth, so I was never able to interact with the technology. However, the Sandbox was a different story. I was able to use VR for the first time in my life, I built a robotic Lego, and I even played the numbers game. I also enjoy the fact that they have older technology as well, something the other technology building does not have. If I were to implement such technology in my classroom, I would use things like the Lego set to help build students and their abilities to follow directions. I would use VR for scientific lessons.
