When it comes to using Microsoft word, the usefulness or effectiveness of it truly does depend on the task at hand. For example, if I am writing a dissertation or a lengthy paper, I believe Microsoft word is the best processing software there is to use. On the flip side, if I am writing a paper that involves images or animation of some sort, Microsoft word is one the worse processing software there is for that purpose. Microsoft needs some kind of update that makes images and animation easier to implement and something to make it look better put together or neater. For lengthy papers Microsoft word is the best thing to use, however, for added animation I believe Google Docs is the best thing to use.
When it comes to standards educators should continue to use or uphold all of them hold significant importance. With that said, I believe one of the most important standards is standard 2.1, learner, which essentially states that educators should continue to learn and grow and the years go by. I think a core issue in many aspects of society is that we as people become stagnant. We feel as though we are highly educated, we have our degrees, our certificates and so forth. This kind of thinking hinders people in many ways, especially teachers. With teaching being one of if not the most important jobs in the country, we cannot afford for them to be stagnant. The must be willing to grow, adapt or even take a step back all based on the needs of the child. If teachers do not continue to grow and learn, neither will students.
I think the term digital natives is a bit in the middle for me. I think even those that are considered "digital immigrants" too are " digital natives". I say this because the digital world has been heavily implemented into the lives of many for over a century now. Since essentially being a digital native means one who grew up on the internet and computers, I think that in one way or another we are all digital natives. Some of may be prone to newer forms of technology, most of living has had some form of technology around in our upbringing. The only potential differences there could be between me and the previous generation and me and the next generation is maybe the speed and the amount of technology that we are used to. But other than that I do not expect things to be that much different.
